I believe when most western foreigners come to southeast Asia for travel or work, the one thing they have experienced for sure is to drink coffee. But do you know the coffee in southeast Asia, including Singapore and Malaysia, is totally different from that in Europe? I remember that when the first week I came to Singapore, my Italian friend told me the coffee there didn’t match his taste. I guess this is due to his high requirement for coffee and coffee cultural difference.
I’ve been to Italy once and found so many Italian coffee beans brands sold on the shelf in the supermarket. Some of them are really famous and you are also able to buy them in southern Germany. Since Italy is so famous for its coffee, I bought some packages and gave a shot to them. It turned out some Italian coffee brands are really unforgettable, so I really want to recommend them to those who have a chance to travel to Italy.
Lavazza coffee is made of 100% Arabica beans, providing a mild acidity in the perfect balance with the bean’s natural sweetness, but much of it is a combination of Arabica and Robusta coffees. Its products are versatile and have a natural affinity for milk-based drinks. It is definitely recommended for those who like coffee to taste acid and robust.
illy’s signature is its espresso. It has a high-end blend of coffee in three roasts: regular, dark roast, and decaf. It’s not cheap, to be honest, but it earns huge popularity among coffee lovers, especially for its intense ground espresso. Its coffee tastes immediately sweet and velvety on the palate with notes of fruit, caramel, and chocolate. So illy is perfect for those who like the taste of your coffee to be more refined and have a flexible budget.
